Interactive web experience
Link to Wonder

Wonder is an online, interactive experience that allows the player to immerse themselves in a relaxing environment. The player guides the character, Lyla, to interact with wildlife through the changing seasons. Lyla is a young girl who often finds herself outside, enjoying nature, and yearning to discover what the world has to offer.

Lyla represents the childlike wonder which we, as people, often aspire to reconnect with in our adult lives. With this project, I have created an outlet for users to release stress and take time to remember the simple beauty through art and ambient sound. Stress is a constant issue among every demographic, and it is important to incorporate stress relieving activities in everyday life. In order to create a relaxing experience, I focused on bringing a childlike nostalgia and detail into my art. The sound effects, as well as the scenes, are based in nature, as I find that people are generally more relaxed in a natural environment as opposed to man-made ones.

Wonder combines the work I have done in many different areas of digital media and fine arts. Using the Javascript library Phaser, I applied my background in web development to code the scenes and then was able to develop my own style within my artwork. I created a piece that showcases the complexity and fine detail of what the web, as a platform, is capable of offering.
