The project consists of two games created using the game engine Unity. The first game, Desert Dash, is an “infinite runner” game similar to Temple Run or Subway Surfer. Players are required to navigate around obstacles such as a cacti, rock formations, and sand pits, all while collecting water canteens in order to survive. The game designer is interested in exploring the ways in which these games can run indefinitely. These "infinite runner" games are very popular and fun for most people to play. They also introduce a meditative state in which the player can relax and immerse themselves into another world.
The second game, Tilt:Maze, is a game in which the player navigates through mazes to proceed to the next level. As the title suggests, if used on a mobile device, the device must be tilted in order to move the ball through the maze. The movement is similar to that of ball-bearing children's maze games. These games are simple in structure and easy to play.
Tyrrell Serrano is a University of Connecticut senior in Digital Media & Design and a concentration in Web/Interactive Media Design. He has a love for video games and as a child, he spent most of his free time with a controller in hand. By his early teen years his head was filled with ideas for game designs. He joined UConn in order to learn how to bring his ideas to life, as well as to find others who shared his passion. He is pleased to say (and even more excited to show) that he has learned everything he needs in order to start sharing his game ideas with the world.
